Thank you sir, great article. Sometimes it seems like a bittersweet victory. I am 61 yr old, hiv poz for 6 yrs, it seems like every sunday all my friends that didn't make comes to mind. Sunday was the the day everybody got together, great music, dancing all night, great beer bust. Now that HIV is more manageable than diabetes, according to my doctor, I wish it had came sooner for so many dear friends. It's hard enough growing older in this youth-based society, but to lose all your friends that you could have taken this journey with is unbearable some days. I will never forget them, since I wish many a day I could pick up the phone all call them. The young gay males don't realize what a gift that was given to them, all because the brave men of the act up movement. You would have had to be alive in the '80s to understand how tuff it was. To all my brothers that have gone before me--rest in peace; I will never forget you.

I, too, have been surviving this for over three decades. I am the last of my friends to still be kicking. Thank you for writing this.

I can understand what you mean. I've been forgotten by my family. I don't want to be forgotten as if my life never mattered or I even existed. I'm hoping and praying that a few people will remember me so I'm not forgotten.

Thanks for this article... Coming from Costa Rica, the attitude is of denial and shame. So many of my friends died back in the '80s and '90s while their circumstances and cause of death remained in the darkness, they have been forgotten... The same as you, I feel lucky enough to have survived and I feel compelled to remember them! warm regards! E
