I have been meaning to re-connect with Mario and went to do it today and sadly discovered his passing. He was such a sweet and reverent person towards me. We spent Gay Pride together yearsss ago (about 2000 and he showed me all the spots; he was doing PR. The last time he and I spoke, he had just sold the condo in NY and moved to DC. I was also in DC and we were trying to connect our schedules and apparently it wasn't working. I said to him, well, that's okay. next time. Miss him and feel bad
Sean, thank you for your thoughtful and loving piece on Mario.
So nice to read everything you said about him. I wish I would have met him. Seems to be a great person. My condolences to his family and friends.
A beautiful tribute to your friend. I'm grateful to Mario for all the ways in which his hard work has made my life easier as someone living with HIV.
A really lovely and true tribute.
Expressing how sorry I am for your loss feels inadequate, Sean, because this is a profound loss for so many people this man surely touched. And any man that can teach you advocacy sounds mighty impressive to me. I have heard stories about Mario's humility and his generosity toward others working in this field, especially those doing the work "back home" in Alabama. Thank you so much for filling in some details about his work. "Attention must be paid to such a man."

bad that we never did. It goes to demonstrate that we need to slow down and smell the roses of people in our life and not lose touch. Randy
