"Now, if only negative gay people believed that!"
My doctor here in the US has said that my partner and I should still use protection on the chance that we might transmit HIV. It’s confusing when you receive different information from various sources. I also know that I self-stigmatize all the time.
I appreciate this article. I believe the basis of treating or dismantling stigma is about an individual’s feeling of safety. Until certain marganilized communities begin to feel safe in our society, our resilience towards stigma will be stronger.

U=U is indeed based on robust scientific evidence, but it will do little to change people's unfounded fears of contagion and value-laden judgments. It can, however, reduce internalization of stigma among people living with HIV and subsequently improve health-seeking behaviors and outcomes. That should be our focus. With respect to measuring stigma, data are not sparse. The issue is that stigma experiences are dynamic and measurement tools should be updated and validated accordingly.
