Although neither Congress nor the president has ever directed or authorized the criminal prosecution of HIV-positive service members in the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard continue to administratively discriminate and criminally prosecute servicemen and -women living with HIV.

A “We the People” petition is asking President Obama to sign an executive order banning and reviewing all new and previous HIV-related prosecutions within the Department of Defense.

If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures within 30 days of its creation, the White House will review it and respond.
