I happen to be a resident of Canada where, as in thre US, AIDS is seen as an affliction that afffects only other countries, or so it would seem by listening to our politicians. There is never any issue around funding for third world contrues, not that they do not need it, but there is a sungular denial that we too have a significant domestic population, both infected and affected that have been dealt a losing hand by not only government, but many of our larger charities. Perhaps a national strategy on, or even a national admission of AIDS would go a long way and creating meaningful progress. Creating a high profile position to oversee the strategy and funding it properly as well as filling it with an individual who has not only the abilities but the support, respect and trust of all the stakeholders might just light the right fire.
