“Where can I find support?”
“How do I adjust to living with HIV?”
“How will my life be different?”
Once you’ve received a positive test result, you will probably feel overwhelmed, angry or scared.
These feelings are completely normal for a newly diagnosed person to feel. To begin to feel better, it is important to:
- Get the support you’ll need from friends and family
- Find a doctor that specializes in HIV care
- Get informed about your options
- Get connected to an AIDS service organization
- Prevent HIV transmission
With proper care and treatment, you can live a long and healthy life. A positive HIV diagnosis is no longer the death sentence it was once perceived to be.
