NOLA HIV Awareness Week


We would like to invite **everyone** to join the city in celebrating World AIDS Day during a weeklong list of activities. There are a host of events surrounding HIV awareness and testing all around the greater New Orleans area starting on Monday, November 28, and concluding Friday, December 2. We are working together to bring a cultural change to reduce stigma surrounding HIV, normalize HIV testing and encourage treatment for anyone living with HIV to improve their health outcomes. Highlighted events include:

  • ***Central City Health Fest***, sponsored by Councilwoman LaToya Cantrell, held at the Dryades YMCA, 2220 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29;

On World AIDS Day, December 1,

  • The Prayer Breakfast will be held at St. Georges Episcopal Church, 4600 St. Charles Ave from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

This event on December 1 will later be followed by:

  • ****The Wreath Laying Ceremony**** at Washington Square Park from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Other events include:

  • A Gender Affirming Health Care Training at New Orleans Regional AIDS Planning Council (NORAPC) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2601 Tulane Ave., Suite 400 on Wednesday, November 30
  • «Riding Red in the City» Bike Ride will start at 919 Erato St. from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, November 28; costs: $25 per rider w/bike included (please RSVP with Val Duffle 504-309-3262 ext. 104)

Come out and participate in the week of activities. Additional events will be updated as they are shared by the community organizations.
