Pre-World AIDS Day Breakfast
The second annual Pre-World AIDS Day Breakfast is a signuture event of the Fulton County Board of Health. It brings together medical, political and community leaders to discuss and celebrate progress towards ending the HIV epidemic in the Atlanta area. This year, we honor with the Kathleen Toomey Lifetime Achievement award, Dr. Eugene McCray, the Director, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. McCray will give the keynote address at the event. We will also be honoring 5 other community members who have distinguished themselves in their efforts to end the HIV epidemic.
All of this is set against the sobering backdrop of World AIDS Day on Sunday, December 1, 2019 when the world remembers those we have lost to AIDS and turns its thoughts to those currently living with HIV and those at risk for HIV infection. All this while we imagine a world where HIV infections are rare and when they occur, they are detected quickly, and met with rapid linkage into treatment and other supportive services to allow long term retention to care.
