Overview: This individual is responsible for assisting Smart Meals Chef in the execution of the Smart Meals program.

Salary & Benefits: Full Time (40 hours) – hourly. Salary is $16 ‐ $18.26 per hour. Qualifications:

  • Meal preparation experience and knowledge of food safety

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Clean, valid NYS driver’s license (as noted on applicant’s Motor Vehicle Report (MVR))

  • Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Outgoing; caring attitude; ability to prioritize and organize tasks and work independently

  • Use of computer, e‐mail, and word processing software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with volunteers.

  • Familiarity with the multi‐cultural food and dietetic needs of person living with HIV/AIDS

  • Serv‐Safe Certified

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Smart Meals Chef Plan and oversee preparation of varied, nutritious, well‐balanced breakfasts, lunches and dinners using the Food and meal programs will meet the following guidelines of healthy eating patterns recommended in the 2015‐2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. http://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2015/guidelines

  • Purchase, transport, and organize high quality food and supplies from the Regional Food Bank and other vendors.

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen and food storage areas

  • Complete forms with daily statistics of meals served, volunteers, and other items.

  • Prepare items for and assist with set‐up and distribution of pantry bags for Pantry Bag Program adhering to AIDS Institute requirements for the provision of Nutrition Health Education (NHE);

  • Be Serv‐Safe certified and attend 24 hours of annual required trainings.

  • Full engage in self‐care to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well‐being.

  • Fully support and grow the Damien Center Pharmacy Program and work to support members in reducing barriers to help each person achieve durable HIV Viral Load Suppression.

  • Attend full staff meetings and meet required 24 hours of annual training

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
