Building Healthy Online Communities (BHOC) is a consortium made up of public health practitioners and website/app owners that aims to improve and coordinate HIV and STD prevention on online dating sites and apps.

The Building Healthy Online Communities (BHOC) Project Manager is responsible for supporting communication to public health leaders regarding best practices for online HIV/STI prevention, logistics for BHOC meetings, assistance in website content development, and maintaining data on web analytics reviewing, and summarizing literature related to online interventions for HIV and STI prevention. Additional tasks will include administrative work to support BHOC consortium projects.

This position is a part-time 9 month project but could be extended.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Project management of various activities, including website updates, message testing, evaluation of best practice activities for online HIV/STI prevention
  2. Editing content for website and other communications
  3. Conduct literature review of online interventions. Review published literature and recent conference presentations; make contact with individual presenters regarding program and research protocols
  4. Summarize and highlight key findings in literature. Prepare a brief summary of highlights as they relate to proposed interventions and priorities defined by BHOC
  5. Administrative support for BHOC consortium projects and meetings. Will include creation of Powerpoint slides and information packets, calls and emails to meeting participants, meeting logistics, maintaining contact database for BHOC membership


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of website analytics, writing and editing skills; familiarity with public health, HIV/AIDS, gay, bisexual and transgender men’s sexual health
