POSITION SUMMARY:

The Castro Country Club (CCC) Café Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the CCC Café and supporting all aspects of the mission, policies and programs of the organization as defined by the CCC Advisory Board. The CCC is a clean & sober gathering place for all people and a home for the queer recovery community. The CCC endeavors to be a space where all can seek wisdom, serenity, courage and joy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Café Management: Establish and maintain inventory tracking system. Conduct weekly inventory of all merchandise and supplies for café. Provide reports on routine basis. Conducts ongoing analysis of sales patterns, and oversees product development to maximize sales and reduce waste. Order merchandise and supplies, including snack and drink items, literature, and cleaning supplies, as needed. Oversee maintenance and cleaning of facility and equipment. Repair and/or purchase new equipment as needed. Ensure safe working conditions for volunteers, maintenance of security systems and adherence to posted Code of Conduct among staff, volunteers and clientele. Maintain business, tax and health department licenses with state and local agencies. Supervise all contractual obligations.
  2.  Oversee Volunteer Coordination: Manage the recruitment, tracking and screening of volunteers to staff facility and to support all retail café needs, as well as social, outreach and fundraising events. Coordinate 45+ volunteers for 100+ hours of weekly café operations. Oversee volunteer retention and training. Monitor volunteer compliance with café policies and local regulations. Supports jobs training/skills building program.
  3.  Event Management: Maintain master calendar of all recovery-related meetings, workshops, social events and fundraisers. Collect and record rents and other fees from groups meeting at the club.
  4.  Financial Management: Hands-on responsibility for all cash-flow, AP/AR, bank accounts and deposits, and maintenance of daily sales reports, expense receipts and other records. Reconcile monthly bank statements. In coordination with the Executive Director, assist accounting personnel with sales tax records and payments and creation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for review of Advisory Board. Assists in the evaluation of café revenue in relations to financial goals. Work with supervisor on annual budget development in collaboration with Treasurer and Finance Committee.
  5. Fundraising: In coordination with the Executive Director, plan and execute all CCC fundraising projects, including on-line donors, major donors, foundation and corporate grants, and events. Produce CCC presence at annual street fairs, including Pink Saturday, Pride, Folsom and Castro etc. Maintain online donor page. Maintain donor reward programs and order fundraising merchandise as needed.
  6. Communications and Outreach: Compose and distribute monthly e-newsletter. Maintain CCC website, Facebook page and other media. Maintain e-mail list. Serve as organizational representative to business, neighborhood and governmental associations. Respond to all inquiries, suggestions and complaints from clientele and general public. May serve as public spokesperson when appropriate, in coordination with the Executive Director, SFAF and CCC Advisory Board.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position directly supervises CCC volunteers, staff and contract employees.

  • Computer Skills: Reasonable proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and social media
  • Café Skills: Proficiency with espresso and other coffee-making and light maintenance

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year of verifiable full-time Café or other retail experience required. Cash-handling experienced required. Volunteer supervision in a nonprofit environment preferred. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching within reasonable accommodation. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is primarily located at 4058 18th Street, San Francisco, however is responsible for traveling to other facilities and any other locations deemed necessary for business need.
