Job Title: Capacity Building Associate, Health Department Initiatives

Designation: Salaried. Full-Time. Exempts
Pay Range: $50,000 – $55,000 (commensurate with experience)
Location: Remote (Southern US)

Position Overview: This position will assist in coordinating capacity building activities benefiting Ryan White funded health departments, service providers, and the communities they serve, in order to advance the goals of jurisdictional plans under the federal Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EHE).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Programmatic (75%) 

Essential duties of this position include: 

  • Serve as a key staff member in support of the Technical Assistance Provider Innovation Network (TAP-IN) project through coordination of technical assistance, engagement with health department staff, administrative functions, tracking of deliverables, and other project monitoring as appropriate. 
  • Support systems coordination efforts in priority jurisdictions by working in collaboration with partners from peer organizations 
  • Travel to identified health departments for required site visits, technical assistance, planning meetings, etc. 
  • Work in collaboration with program consultants and other faculty 
  • Represent SAC on TAP-IN advisory groups, the NASTAD Engagement Advisory Council, and other spaces to ensure optimal collaboration with partners and stakeholders. 
  • Support development of technical assistance tools and trainings for health departments
  • Provide technical assistance to state health department related to effective implementation of their jurisdictional plans under the EHE
  • Build relationships with and onboard appropriate faculty to implement technical assistance plans
  • Represent SAC at meetings, briefings, and consultations related to state department HIV health care programs
  • Provide logistical support on project activities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

Administrative (25%)  

  • Maintain databases of health department contacts and collaborative partners 
  • Participate in requisite planning meetings for funded projects  
  • Complete update reports and tracking as required (including use of Asana)  
  • Assist with preparation of reports on relevant grant-funded programs 
  • Other tasks as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will possess either:
A. A Master’s degree in public health, health administration, public administration or some other related discipline and at least one (1) year relevant experience with a Ryan White funded local or state health department or multi-service Ryan White funded clinic/service agency; or
B. A Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, public administration, or some other related discipline and at least three (3) years of relevant experience with a Ryan White funded local or state health department or multi-service Ryan White funded clinic/service agency.
C. A high school equivalency with at least five (5) years of relevant experience with a Ryan White funded local or state health department or multi-service Ryan White funded clinic/service agency.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong desire to work with communities that are disproportionately impacted by HIV/AIDS in the South, including gay, bi, same-gender loving and other men-who-have-sex-with-men, transgender or gender non-conforming persons, Latinx persons, cisgender Black women, and persons experiencing poverty 
  • Ability to independently build relationships with diverse audiences including community members, care providers, and HIV/AIDS care subject matter experts.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and analyze innovative best practices in community engagement, HIV prevention, and HIV/AIDS treatment and care
  • Knowledge of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, particularly Part A and Part B
  • Knowledge of the inner workings of state and local health departments
  • Skillful in effective project management in collaboration with multiple partners
  • Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects, establish workload priorities, and meet deadlines;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit/proofread writing for various audiences; 
  • Ability to take initiative, set goals, and execute tasks with limited direct supervision;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and desired experience with database management
  • Some experience with developing and delivering health-focused trainings/workshops and materials for adult learners.
  • Ability to travel and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as part of a flexible work schedule (travel is not currently required due to COVID-19, but upon reinstatement of travel, must be able to travel approximately 20% of the time) 

Location: The person in this role must reside in the southern United States. This position will also be 100% remote.
