Candidate should be forward-thinking and have a prolific understanding on the community-based response to ending the HIV epidemic is required. Ideal candidates should have a blend of HIV-content expertise, community-based responses to addressing the HIV epidemic, and at least 5 years of experience managing federal cooperative agreements. Candidate should be experienced with writing grants and funding applications. NMAC is looking for a leader from the communities that are hardest hit by HIV. Core Competencies: 

Federal Contract Oversite

The Center plans and implements most of NMAC’s federal cooperative agreements. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing government support is critical. NMAC is looking for someone who can hit the ground running. They must also be able to manage multiple contracts with varying specifications and regulations (e.g., following requirements set forth by various funding entities). This role will provide project management and budget oversight including accurate and timely reports, comprehensive work plans, timelines, and accurate cost estimates for project activities. Additionally, this role will manage relationships with federal partners, internal teams, subcontractors, and partners.  

Management & Implementation

The successful candidate has experience managing people, donors and constituents. Good ideas are not enough, you need to be able to implement complex programs that reach a diversity of communities. 

HIV Content Expert

The director will work with national, regional, and local advocacy groups to increase sustainable access to biomedical HIV prevention and treatment, especially for racial/ethnic/gender/sexuality minorities to reduce disparities in health outcomes for these populations. The incumbent will develop and implement education and best practices for health policy implementation to reduce the impact of HIV in each jurisdiction. 

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience managing federal cooperative agreements, including demonstrated HRSA, CDC and NIH grant experience.
  • Combined seven (7) years of HIV/Infectious Disease health-focused academic (university-level) and/or programmatic experience.
  • Demonstrated seven (7) years of experience working independently in senior management
  • Exhibits strong ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, private organizations, public entities, and leadership from community-based organizations
  • Superior judgement in recognizing and resolving problems internally and externally.
  • Extensive experience supporting communities disproportionately impacted by HIV
  • Maintains professional appearance and demeanor in verbal, written, and in-person engagements
  • Ability to act independently with minimal or little to no supervision
  • Demonstrated HRSA, CDC and NIH experience, especially with grants
  • Forward strategic grant planning
  • Ability to work across NMAC divisions, including Development, Treatment, Policy, Conferences and Communication
  • Ability to Travel as required.
