Position Summary: The Director of Development (DOD) at the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS (SWC) serves in a key leadership position. In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the DOD is responsible for driving the outbound development culture of the SWC to achieve overall fundraising growth goals through identifying new sources of contributed income; maintaining and increasing funding from individual, corporate, foundation, and government sources; and planning special events.

Fundraising & Special Events: Manages the donor relations process, including identification, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate and foundation donors. Establishes short and long - term goals for funding sources. Strategize and develop methods of approach for donors. Researches public and private grant sources (agencies, corporations, and foundations) to identify sources of funding. Works with program staff and volunteer - comprised event committees to develop funding related projects and special events. Organizes donor campaigns (e.g., major donors, direct mail, board of directors, annual campaign, etc.).

Development & Public Relations: Be active in the local community, building networks among Centers of Influence, community leaders, business groups, and corporate events. Significant involvement in community events and commerce organizations will be needed to promote the SWC and generate new fundraising connections. Supervises and works with the Marketing Manager to develop communications such as the annual report, newsletters, SWC and program brochures, general PowerPoint presentations and content for website. Oversees SWC social media presence.

Grants: Writes major grants, coordinates with grant writer consultant to submit smaller funding requests, and manages the grant process (prospecting, researching, assembling, and submitting letters of interest/intent, grant proposals, grant budgets, grant presentations, and grant reports).

Major Gift/Donor Support: Produce major donor, board, and special category solicitations/support materials with the intent to retain and increase gifts. Cultivate donor relationships by producing correspondence and scheduling and attending in - person visits with current and prospective donors.

Database & Records Management: Maintains donor and grant records in Raiser’s Edge database software, tracks all contributors and grants. Generates queries/reports, donor correspondence and acknowledgement letters. Manages any related vendors or in - kind donations.

Income Financial Reporting: In conjunction with accounting staff, maintains an accurate accounting of all Development generated income and its sources. Works closely with accounting staff to see that all development revenue is accurately recorded and reconciled and donor records are properly maintained. Works with the Finance, Development and ad ? hoc committees to fulfill information requests, generate reports that track progress to development goals.

Professional Development: Dedicate ongoing attention to personal professional development through seminars, webinars, and collaborate with other SWC mission related community organizations.
