About the Position and the HIV Case Management Program
The HIV Case Management Coordinator provides oversight and coordination services for Washington State’s HIV Case Management Program. This position coordinates services that assure that persons living with HIV have access to case management assistance that enables them to gain or maintain outpatient/ambulatory health services, support services, and HIV treatment. Coordination activities include contract management, providing administrative support and oversight of services, monitoring case management providers, conducting program planning, providing related trainings, designing/updating resource materials, and developing and implementing policies and procedures. These duties directly support DOH’s mission of working to protect and improve the health of people in Washington State by coordinating case management, which allows HIV-positive individuals to gain and maintain access to medical care and related support services.

What will you be doing? – Duties include: 

  • Coordinate HIV Medical Case Management.
  • Develop case management program guidelines, staying up to date on case management content, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to agencies providing HIV case management services in Washington.  The goal is to improve providers’ capacity to provide case management services, including assessment of policy, training and cultural proficiency of service provider agencies.
  • Manage contracts between HIV Client Services and Health Care Authority (HCA).
  • Conduct site visits to monitor compliance with scope of services and standards of service delivery, including prepare reports, presents findings, and ensures sub-recipients implement corrective action plan.
  • Implement HIV Case Management Quality Assurance activities.
  • Write HIV case management-related parts of funding applications, annual and interim reports, ad hoc reports, and public information efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

(NOTE: Experience may have been gained concurrently.) 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, health care administration, public/business administration, psychology, social work, or a closely allied field; AND three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program.

OR 

  • Seven (7) or more years (full-time equivalency) of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program.

AND 

  • Three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of progressively responsible experience working within HIV system of care or prevention.
  • Three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of experience providing, coordinating, or supervising case management services.
  • Three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of professional level experience providing technical assistance in-person and by phone and computer.
  • One (1) or more years (full-time equivalency) of professional experience training or teaching individuals about health related topics.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preference may be given to candidates who have the following DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  A Master’s degree or higher in public health, health care administration, public/business administration, psychology, social work, or a closely allied field.
  • Three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of professional level experience in strategic planning, program planning, logic model development, or quality improvement.
  • Three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of experience applying knowledge of HIV epidemic and HIV care service delivery system.
  • Three (3) or more years (full-time equivalency) of experience working in Washington State’s HIV care or case management service delivery system.
