Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helps families approved for rental assistance locate housing in a timely manner and with limited obstacles;

  • Supports case managers in keeping families stably housed by working with local agencies and landlords or identifying other options as needed;

  • Conducts on-going research to compile available units and distribute among all Housing Program staff for dissemination to clients

  • Provides housing-related advice, consultation and guidance to all case managers to better assist families

  • Reviews previous housing histories of families and identify possible barriers to obtaining and retaining housing

  • Connects with landlords and develops strong relationships in order to facilitate client placement

  • Provides tenancy support, including tenant education workshops and consultation on case-by-case basis

  • Conducts initial and annual home inspections for clients when notified by case managers and provide inspections for other programs as necessary  

  • Refers clients and provides support for legal services related to more serious conflict or mediation cases when necessary

  • Keeps apprised of housing resources and new developments that pertain to housing

  • Tracks client interactions through data entry system

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A. /B.S. degree required.

  • Minimum 1 year case management experience preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills

  • Knowledge of local housing continuum and program requirements preferred

  • Some knowledge of fair housing and tenants’ rights preferred

  • Experience working with homeless families preferred
