Lambda Legal is the nation’s oldest and largest legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV.

Since 1973, Lambda Legal has used impact litigation and other advocacy tools to decriminalize same-sex relationships; challenge discrimination against LGBT people and people living with HIV in the workplace, the home, in schools, in health care, and in the military; and protect LGBT families, including by winning and defending marriage equality. Clients are not charged for legal representation or advocacy and Lambda Legal receives no government funding. Headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

Strong communication skills, including editing and writing ability, are important for this job.

As this job involves heavy Pride activations at festivals and parades, the person in this job must be able to drive, rent a car, and lift heavy boxes. There may be occasional travel.

Helpful for this job:

• a knowledge of production, especially the printing, shipping and distribution of branded merchandise and publications.

• a knowledge of popular culture, design and style, especially as related to LGBT communities.

• experience with event and trade-show-like activations, such as at Pride festivals and parades.

• a facility with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media and other digital tools.

• experience working with external partners, such as graphic designers, printing companies, photographers/videographers and photo booth vendors.

• experience working with and engaging celebrities, influencers and other talent in event and social media activations.

• timeliness and thoroughness with administrative duties such as timesheets,

processing vendor invoices and mailing and shipping.

• this staff member reports to the marketing director. This job does not call for managing fundraising, PR, digital/social assets or any legal work, but the person in this job will collaborate closely with the stakeholders who do and either has experience, knowledge or interest in these areas and can see the big picture of how these functions fit together.
