Overview: Coordinate a fun and engaging drop-in program (Mpower Albany) designed to assist young MSM/Gay men of color under the age of 34 with the goals of:

  1. Identifying persons with HIV who remain undiagnosed and link them to health care;
  2. Link and retain persons diagnosed with HIV in health care to maximize virus suppression so they remain healthy and prevent further transmission; and
  3. Facilitate access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for high-risk persons to keep them HIV negative.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field or Associate’s Degree with 2 years’ experience with (Gay Men/MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) of color under age 34). Experience and knowledge of the target populations and services systems can be substituted for educational requirement.
  2. 2 years’ experience supervising program staff and peers.
  3. Unrestricted driver’s license and independent means of transportation.
  4. Flexibility as this position may require late night and weekend hours.
  5. Ability to maintain professional boundaries within agency and grant guidelines, as well as with clients and external service providers.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and database programs.
  7. Comfort and knowledge of the diversity (ethnic, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc.) of our multicultural HIV/AIDS community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Ending the Epidemic goals, HIV/HCV/STD prevention, testing, and care, and PrEP/nPEP
  2. Familiarity of STD/HCV/HIV treatment and support services in the Capital Region.
  3. Experience delivering and documenting prevention interventions.
  4. Familiarity with data entry and reporting in AIRS (AIDS Institute Reporting System)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide training, direction, and supervision for Mpower Albany Community Engagement Coordinator and Peer Services Specialists.
  2. Deliver one-on-one prevention education, risk-reduction counseling, and access to PrEP and nPEP.
  3. Coordination, oversight, and/or delivery of groups, activities, and events.
  4. Provide linkage, navigation and retention services to high-risk negative and HIV-positive participants.
  5. Conduct Rapid HIV testing and counseling to high-risk community members and participants.
  6. Provide escort and advocate services for clients in need of medical and/or social services.
  7. Complete and maintain confidential client level data, progress notes, and files.
  8. Oversee monthly calendar of events and social media postings.
  9. Assist Program Manager in grant budgeting, program monitoring, and AIDS Institute reporting.
  10. Monthly maintenance and ordering for Mpower Albany space.
  11. Attend 24 hours of mandatory training per year, and trainings for interventions.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Status & Benefits: Full time (40 hrs) – Full benefits including health, dental, flexible spending account (FSA), life insurance, retirement, and generous combined leave time.  High thirties to low forties depending on experience.
