POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced medical and nursing care to clients seeking care at Magnet at Strut and satellite facilities under a  scope of practice as defined by Magnet at Strut’s  protocols and the State of California.  This includes assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating Magnet at Strut’s clients for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV infection, with a special focus on PrEP and nPEP care. This position is full time position scheduled for 4-10 hour rotating shifts Monday through Saturday.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Clinical Services: Serves as the primary interface with clients seeking screening for sexually transmitted infections and PreExposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and non-Occupational Post Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) services. Provides direct clinical services as defined by Magnet at Strut’s protocols and treatment guidelines including obtaining medical history and physicial, specimen collection, high-volume phlebotomy, administration of treatments, performing point of care lab tests, management of PrEP and nPEP care, client counseling, and education. Works with Magnet at Strut staff and other volunteers to insure quality of care. Provides referrals as appropriate to outside providers. Serves as a clinical resource for a team of RN’s.
  2. Administration: Serves as a clinic leader and assists in the coordination of clinic operations, flow, and client care. Completes documentation of reports and clinical services provided with a high level of detail and thoroughness. Provides other professional or administrative duties as required.
  3. Protocol Development: Assists Magnet at Strut’s  Director of Nursing in developing, implementing and evaluating best practices, protocols, policies and procedures.
  4. Clinical Research: Serve as a medical lead for various research protocols. Maintains regulatory compliance through proper documentation and implementation of research interventions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing

  • Current California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license. Must have or obtain certification as a Nurse practitioner (NP) within 6 months of hire. Employee must maintain an active Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License with the California Board of Nursing,

  • Current DEA and California Furnishing license required.

  • Current Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Current California Certification as an HIV Counselor required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

  • Training in Good Clinical Practices, research ethics, and IATA shipping preferred.

  • At least one year experience in outpatient sexual health clinic preferred.

  • At least one year experience in clinical research preferred.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, or ASL preferred

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Skill in operating office equipment such as a personal computer, copy machine and telephone system. Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be co-located in two separate facilities, SFAF main building at 1035 Market Street as well as at Magnet at Strut, located at 470 Castro Street; San Francisco, however traveling to other office locations or off-site meetings may be required by the job.
