Since 1987, NMAC has advanced its mission through a variety of public policy education programs; national conferences; treatment and research programs and trainings; electronic and printed resource materials. NMAC represents a coalition of 3,000 community-based organizations (CBOs) and AIDS service organizations (ASOs) delivering HIV/AIDS services in communities of color nationwide. NMAC’s advocacy efforts are funded through private funders and donors only.

Program Manager, Capacity Building

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Program Coordinator supports the Linking and Integration Networks for Collaboration (LINC) program by funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to deliver effective high impact HIV prevention services and interventions to community-based organizations (CBOs). The position facilitates learning through a variety of methods including in person instruction, via individual and group learning experiences, distance learning, and coaching.   The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of all aspects of technical assistance and training development and implementation.

The position requires extensive travel (21+ days per year) to deliver trainings and technical assistance (2-4 days in length); and participate in and/or present at scheduled conferences as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates the planning, implementation, and delivery of capacity building activities for community-based organizations
  • Conducts organizational assessments and designs action plans for the implementation of capacity building services to include training and technical assistance.
  • Analyzes information to identify problems and challenges following assessment and develops a strategic action plan to support the capacity building needs of CBA clients.
  • Facilitates Evidence-Based Interventions (EBIs) Training of Facilitators to enhance the capacity of individuals, organizations, and communities to conduct more effective and efficient HIV prevention services through the use of behavioral interventions. (https://effectiveinterventions.cdc.gov/)
  • Recruits and manages consultants who provided subject matter expertise on topics related to program deliverables and outcomes.
  • Contributes towards the development and dissemination of CBA resources (i.e. manuals, tools, information) and marketing messages to meet the needs of CBA recipients
  • Coordinates the logistics for CBA events and updates and monitors the CDC’s CBA Request Information System (CRIS) and the Training Events Calendar (TEC)
  • Conducts quality assurance for all CBA services, consultant assignments, and products developed under the auspices of this cooperative agreement.
  • Represents NMAC at various conferences, meetings and other events as assigned.
  • Performs other administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.

Technical Assistance & Training

  • Provide Evidence-Based Interventions training and related follow up to include, Choosing Life!: Empowerment! Action! Results! (CLEAR); Healthy Relationships (HR); Many Men, Many Voices (3MV), and HIV Navigation Services (HNS), to CBOs nation-wide.
  • Design and facilitate in-person trainings, webinars, and supporting activities on a range of technical subject matters
  • Appropriately determine and administer the most appropriate methods of CBA for all assigned cases
  • Coordination of logistics and vendors, conduct participant outreach and recruitment, and manage onsite logistics on behalf of NMAC during each event.

Consultants & Contracts

Candidate will be required to recruit, screen and contract consultants as subject matter experts for relevant capacity building topics and components.

Budget Monitoring

The candidate will be responsible for monitoring consultant programmatic expenses, staff and consultant travel and other assigned program budget items.

Program Development

The candidate will participate and contribute to the development of program work plan, staff meetings and projects, and workgroups. Work to establish a relationship with project staff and partners to develop services and program to support the unmet needs of CBOs.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required in public health, social sciences, health education, or related field; or a minimum five to seven years of relevant work experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a trainer required.

Compensation is competitive, based on experience and educational qualifications.
