The Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing (ISGMH; https://www.isgmh.northwestern.edu) is seeking applicants for a Sr. Research Study Coordinator. Coordinates & completes the day to day administrative & technical activities involved in a single complex, large, nationwide or multiple moderately complex concurrent biomedical &/or social-behavioral research study(ies) involving multiple sites& /or longitudinal assessments/ interventions.  Ensures that all activities are completed by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

This position will assist in managing the day-to-day and long-term research and service activities of the Implementation Science Coordination, Consultation, and Collaboration Initiative (ISC3I; https://isc3i.isgmh.northwestern.edu). ISC3I is the national coordinating and technical support center for the 34+ CFAR/ARC (Centers for AIDS Research/AIDS Research Centers) research-practice partnerships funded as part of the HHS Ending the HIV Epidemic plan. EHE recognizes that we have all the tools to end the epidemic in the U.S.; however, significant implementation challenges remain that prevent people from accessing these tools at the right time. The research aims of ISC3I are to identify, collate, and disseminate shared measures and best practices related to implementation research frameworks, outcomes, determinants, and strategies in HIV. The service aims are to work with funded regional Hubs to provide training and support, resources, and expert consultation for academic researchers and practice-based partners on funded HIV projects around implementation science.

Reporting to the Research Project Coordinator, this position will assist in various operational aspects of ISC3I: maintaining the online Community of Practice website; designing and drafting communications that target research teams as well as their community partners, liaising with HIV implementation science experts in support of research activities; communicating with Northwestern University administrators; scheduling meetings with investigators and staff from the supplement projects; and helping to produce an implementation science webinar series. Regular communication with federal partners from NIH, CDC, and HRSA, local and regional health agencies, academic investigators, and research staff across the US should be expected.

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical

  1. Participates in the planning & conduct of research studies.
  2. Reviews project & protocol & recommends strategies to expedite study.  
  3. Administers tests &/or questionnaires following protocols.
  4. Collects, compiles, tabulates &/or processes responses.
  5. Gathers information.
  6. Determines format, elements, trends, etc.
  7. Maintains websites and/or blogs.
  8. Creates new web pages and/or updates information/data within the application’s content management program.

Administration

  1. Manages study databases which may include ensuring that data is collected & entered correctly.
  2. Reviews & analyzes data.
  3. Creates computer models, graphs, reports & summaries for use in publications, journals, & grants.
  4. Co-authors scientific papers for presentation & publication.
  5. Coordinates complex itineraries involving domestic and/or international travel, etc.  
  6. Manages supervisor’s and/or dept calendar.
  7. Independently responds to and composes correspondence.
  8. Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.    

Finance

  1. Maintains & reconciles expenditures & balances in regard to research accounts & budgets.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 4 years’ research study or other relevant experience required; OR
  • Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master’s or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years’ research study or other relevant experience.
  • Must complete NU’s IRB CITI training before interacting with participants & must re-certify every 3 years.

  • 2 years’ experience producing professional communications for diverse audiences and distilling complex, scientific information into digestible content and formats
  • Experience with graphic design principles and software (e.g Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond)
  • Experience using content management and marketing platforms (e.g.,Wordpress and Mailchimp)
  • Experience working with communities impacted by and/or people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Experience working in public health, psychology, and/or medical research.
