Planned Parenthood of New York City is seeking a Vice President to join our Project Street Beat team. The Vice President position will be primarily based at our PSB office located at 349 E 149th St., Bronx, NY 10451 but will also work at PSB’s Brooklyn office in Crown Heights and at our main Administrative offices in NoHo in Manhattan.

Project Street Beat is PPNYC’s unique HIV-prevention, harm reduction, and access-to-care program for adults and young people who live and work on the city’s streets. Traveling to Bronx, northern Manhattan, and Brooklyn neighborhoods in minivans and a mobile health center, our engagement teams connect with the people at increased risk for or living with HIV and other chronic health conditions to provide health services, case management and supportive services.

What the Vice President does:

  • The Vice President of Project Street Beat sets the strategic direction of the department in concert with an equity and sexual and reproductive rights and justice lens.
  • The Vice President of Project Street Beat responsibilities include the development and oversight of program initiatives and operations for consumer engagement, HIV prevention, Mobile Health Center, case/care management, wellness and other supportive services.
  • Cultivate relationships with community and other partners (community groups, CBO’s and federal, state, and city agencies). Promote the values and work of PPNYC by engaging with community partners and presenting at special events, community and governmental partner meetings, professional conferences as well as participating in key external committees, task forces and workgroups. 
  • Project Street Beat centered communities are at increased risk for exposure due to HIV and other chronic conditions as well as systemic bias that lead to unstable housing and homeless, substance abuse and transactional/survival sex.  The Vice President of Project Street Beat will ensure all team members have the skills, knowledge and experience to effectively meet the needs of our most vulnerable consumers.
  • The Vice President of Project Street Beat will serve on the organization’s senior management team and collaborate with various PPNYC departments including Research and Evaluation, Clinical Services, Development and Public Affairs to advance the work of the department and the mission of PPNY.
  • Work with Finance Department in budget preparation and fiscal oversight to ensure internal controls and regulatory compliance. Develop and oversee department budget including monitoring variances in revenue and expenditures. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree.
  • 10 years of work experience in organizations leading teams and managing director level or above.
  • Extensive experience with communities impacted by HIV and knowledge of social determinates health faced by marginalized communities especially women, LGBTQ, and communities of color.
  • Deep familiarity with national, state, and city agencies and key committees, task forces and workgroups addressing HIV/AIDS.
  • Experience leveraging data to shape their perspective and resulting programs and strategies.
  • Strengths in cultural responsiveness, strategic communication, problem solving, and team development.
  • History of collaborating with diverse groups of stakeholders to achieve ambitious outcomes.
  • Excellent listening and relationship building skills across difference.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Policy, Management or similar.
  • A deep passion for social justice and equity for all.

All positions at PPNYC require:

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.

 

Plans to expand in New York State

In a major step to amplify our impact and ensure better health outcomes for all New Yorkers, PPNYC is engaged in a planned merger process with four other New York State Planned Parenthood affiliates, becoming Planned Parenthood of Greater New York*. The new, unified entity will include half of New York State’s counties, covering 65% of the state’s population. This exciting shift will allow for standardized operations and quality improvement across the merged organization’s 29 health centers – advantages that will exponentially improve our service provision for patients and communities statewide.

*The Planned Parenthood Federation of America and all the Boards of Directors of the Federation and of all five Planned Parenthood New York State affiliates have approved this merger. We are currently awaiting authorization by the New York State Department of Health and Attorney General, and plan to go live as the official new entity on January 1, 2020.
