We saw Jim in a tiny theater in Hollywood. He was starring in the play Southern Baptist Sissies. Being raised “born again” I embarrassed my Catholic husband by singing along with all the hymns. He blew the roof off that theater. We were sitting next to a friend of Jim’s and met him after the show. What a gracious man!

Hi guys, I so enjoyed your conversation. A note on Dr. Smith. While certainly flamboyant, he represented something more important to me, as a young, gay outcast in abusive situation. The Robinson family was codependent, totally reliant on each other for survival. But Dr. Smith’s character was one of independent thinking. He would often remove himself from the family unit and solve problems on his own. He was self actualized and taught me as a gay outcast, that I could survive.

I always liked the Monroe character. He was like a goofy friendly guy. I wish you had a updated photo of Jim J Bullock.

Oh I LOVED Monroe! He was my favorite character. I had the biggest crush on him lol ( I was 10 lol). He reminded me of my uncle Larry. See Larry waa gay. I never knew it till I was a teenager. He was just uncle Larry to me. But he was funny, kind and loving. And I loved my uncle Jack... Larry's " special" friend. They were together 25 in 93. Until my uncle passed away. Thank for Monroe! He's a wonderful character that's so fun and special to me!

I loved the chemistry between you and Ted knight! I thought that relationship was the funniest thing on TV at the time! How quickly u could anger him! I'm sorry u had to hide your sexuality from him. I have a gay son and I know that he struggles fitting in and I wish that things were different for his sake. Being gay is so hard for anyone in the missouri ozarks. I grew up with a guy that had to stay closeted and I never had any idea he was gay. I'm sure he suffered in silence

Enjoyable read. Just want to say Hi to Jim. My husband Dan Weaver created his talk show Jim J & Tammy Faye. I was Set Decorator, & it was a real HOOT. The 2 of them together was hilarious...too bad it was short lived, as Tammy became quite ill. So many wonderful memories to reflect on. All the best to Jim...Lee Moore.

Being 66 now, we grew up in the same era. I didn’t know what gay was until I was 20! I would loved to have been friends with you! It’s so nice to know you are living your best life now!
