I tested HIV+ February 1993, & started antiretrovirals March 1996 with a 162 CD4 count. My right carotid & stent are now 100% blocked, while left carotid is 75% blocked. A endarterectomy on my left carotid is in my immediate future. If I get up too quickly, I go down in a "brownout." I know how fortunate I am, as I lost so many friends & loved ones over the years. Those old antiretrovirals may have kept me alive, but their side effects will be what takes me. That’s winning, right?
