When will this medication be available????
While this is good news. Going to the doctor every 1 or two months is not feasible. I am a ship Captain.I spend 6 to 8 months at sea traveling. And to come all the way back to Los Angeles for a shot.. one of my crew is type one diabetic he just takes a stock pile of meds with him.the same as me. I just take a stock pile of meds with me.. I dont know why this drug can be the same. Amd patients inject them selves.
Great news as an alternative for those wishing to take this route. Hopefully this will increase adherence and lower cost for payers. Reggie Dunbar II (Doctor of Divinity) Poz Military Veterans USA INTL Atlanta GA
Many things can o go wrong with this. What if the treatment fails mid-course and another HIV medication needst to be put in place? The first treatment couldn't stop and either a needless waiting period would be required or a patient would be forced to take two HIV cocktails at the same time. As I write this, a Hurricane is bearing down on the east coast. If the injection was needed during the aftermath of an evacuation or lack of services following the disaster resistance could happen. Bad Idea.
I take 2 injections every four weeks. Been in this study at UNMC. Love it. Not taking a pill or pills everyday is over. I recommend this treatment if you get the chance.

Is this an implant? If so it has to be properly implanted by a medic. And if it is an implant then it could be removed midway through treatment if necessary. Also, those given it might need to be checked to see if it is releasing the correct daily amount.
