Friday, December 1, is World AIDS Day. This year, the 25th anniversary of AIDS, the theme is accountability. Here’s just a glimpse of what’s going on around the country and around the globe:

World AIDS Day 2006 December, 1 2006; 4:30 - 6:30 pm CST The Steps across from Jackson Square, next to Cafe Du Monde Decatur St, New Orleans Join the NO/AIDS Task Force in collaboration with NRPEACE, Camp Ace, JPHSA and the Office of Public Health as we celebrate World AIDS Day. This year we will be holding a candle light vigil in front of Washington Auxiliary Park. We will hear from survivors, as well as those who have lost loved ones because of this terrible disease. We will also offer individuals from the community the opportunity to share their stories, poetry or prose about HIV/AIDS. Community sign-up for speakers begins at 4:30 pm. Candle light vigil at 6pm.

Boston Medical Center to Observe World AIDS Day 2006 December 1, 2006; 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Menino Pavilion 840 Harrison Avenue, Boston This free event will feature numerous inspirational testimonies from people living with HIV/AIDS.
