HIV Status of Rapist Revealed by Australian Court
A taxi driver in Australia who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting three female passengers between 2003 and 2007 had his HIV-positive status disclosed in a published decision by the Court of Criminal Appeal, brisbanetimes.com.au reports. Hassan Nagi battled the courts for 15 months to keep his status a secret. His lawyers had argued that revealing his status in this manner could dissuade other people in similar circumstances from disclosing. According to the article, the women have not tested HIV positive.
