AIDS Resources of Rural Texas to Close Sept. 1
AIDS Resources of Rural Texas will permanently close September 1, leaving hundreds of clients without medical care, a food bank and other social services, wfaa.com reports. The Weatherford clinic has more than 130 patients and the Abilene location about 300. HIV/AIDS funding has been cut at both the state and federal level. Texas legislators recently denied a $20 million increase to make up for a shortfall in the state’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program, which serves about 15,000 HIV-positive Texans.
