Utah Creates ADAP Waiting List
Utah has closed its AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) to new registrants, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. The program provides low-income residents with free HIV medications. The state health department is creating a waiting list. The 475 people currently in the program will continue receiving assistance. Officials cite increased demand and flat funding from the federal government for the waiting list. The state health department is seeking $750,000 from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration to eliminate the waiting list. In the mean time, officials are directing people to pharmaceutical companies for possible financial assistance.
