The International AIDS Society (IAS) has announced the 2011 winners for three scientific awards, according to an IAS statement. Aimed at highlighting innovation in HIV/AIDS research, the awards will be presented during plenary sessions at the 6th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention, held July 17 to 20 in Rome.

The awards and winners are as follows: The Women, Girls and HIV Investigator Prize: Milly Kaggwa Nanyombi (Uganda); The IAS TB/HIV Research Prize: Sabine Margot Hermans (The Netherlands); The IAS/ANRS Young Investigator Award (Basic Sciences): Xu Yu (China); The IAS/ANRS Young Investigator Award (Clinical Sciences): Musa Ngayo (Kenya); The IAS/ANRS Young Investigator Award (Prevention Science): Anandi Sheth (United States); and The IAS/ANRS Young Investigator Award (Operations and Implementation Research): Lilanganee Telisinghe (United Kingdom).
