I just moved back to my home state of Iowa from California and I can't believe the HIV criminilization legislation here. It's from the dark ages. Iowa, I can see progression in many areas, but this should be an embarassment to the state. Gay Marriage is legal but you dare not piss your spouse off or you might go to prison for 25 years. GET REAL Iowa!

Why single out just one. Most doctors will say, one can live a healthy normal lifespan with HIV. Either make it a crime to not disclose all active STDs or just drop it all.

As an Iowan, I have to say that the criminalization of HIV-transmission is one of, if not the, worst piece(s) of legislation to ever be enacted by the Iowa General Assembly. One could better understand the severity of this law if it required that HIV was actually transmitted from one person to another without the knowledge or consent of the latter. It doesn't even require the individuals involved to have even been intimate! Just the supposed threat is reason enough, by Iowa law, to imprison.
