HIV rates in South Africa declined 35 percent between 2002 and 2008, according to a study by South Africa’s Human Sciences Research Council and the Imperial College London. As reported by PlusNews, the reduction seems to correspond to an increase in condom use. For example, 73 percent of women reported using condoms in 2008 compared with only 46 percent in 2002.
