How precisely did the press mangle this story or spread inaccurate info? I see that they didn't get it *exactly* right, but they almost got it right, no? WHO includes a *strong recommendation* based on *high quality* evidence that men who have sex with men (which is most adult gay men) use PrEP as part of a comprehensive prevention package. Recommendation itself seems overbroad perhaps. But did press summaries really get it wrong? How? Article doesn't really say, despite headline's condemnation.
Confused by what you think the media's hyperbole was exactly. I've read the quote from WHO - Seems to say that based on "high quality" evidence, its "strong recommendation" is that MSM take PrEP (as part of a more comprehensive prevention strategy). That might not be "all" gay men, but it's all sexually active gay men, right? Seems like an overbroad recommendation, but did the media really "mangle" it as badly as you say? How?
Seriously?!?
What a joke of a retraction. "The Media" bungled nothing. For all intents and purposes the WHO did recommend (almost) "all gay men". Faced with the reality that they too could potentially become "unclean", negative gay men everywhere began to clutch their pearls and think. This was not the intention of the capitalists running the show. No one profits if people other than hypochondriacs and pornstar wannabes actually use PrEP, and this whole Kabuki theater is all about profit.
