My partner recently started the Chantix regimen with grave consequences. He is already dealing with depression and other issues. The depression deepened and has led to several very difficult situations. Although he stopped taking the drug, it appears as if their will be lingering effects for awhile. Smoking may kill, but in this case stopping may accelerate the outcome.

I have been a non-smoker about a year now. Thank you Chantix, nothing else (I tried everything)worked. I had vivid dreaming but that faded away after about the third week. I took the medication for a full three months and never missed a dose. Now I can really smell and taste my food again. Smokers are all stinky to me, but I remain kind and do not tell them they are making me gag. Now my mother has Glioblastoma Multiform. Cancer of the brain. Before she dies she will quit smoking too.

I have been taking Chantix for 3 weeks and have been totally off of the cigarettes for 12 days. I feel great and also feel like my quitting smoking is going to stick this time. Other than the vivid dreams, which I can remember after I wake up, I have not had any side effects. For people trying to quit, this is an option definitely worth talking about with your doctor.

I quit smoking 8 months ago. I had heard of Chantix. I mentioned to my ID doctor as he highly recommended quitting smoking. I quess Chantix was not an option. So I quit cold-turkey. So far, so good. I was concerned about the side-effects of taking Chantix and my HIV meds but that's not a problem.

Yikes - are the webmasters blocking anti-Chantix letters? Soon find out. I smoke, still do, and probably will for the forseeable future. My Chantix experience was awful. I am glad to read the other comments that it worked, but please, please, please be aware if you are reading this and considering taking this drug. It can mess your head up big time. It can make you nuts. There are reports of suicides of folks who were otherwise not suicidal. Be careful, please.

I decided to quit smoking in October 2007. I chose cold turkey as I couldn't get a definite answer from my ID doctor about taking Chantix. All he said was I should quit smoking. So far so good. I haven't smoked since I quit. It hasn't been easy. With no advice from my ID doctor, I really had no choice. But I'm glad I did quit.
