Learned I'm + this past january. Have not told the family and pretty sure will not tell (at least my parents) ever. There's a generational gap that makes it difficult for me. Perhaps my brothers and sisters, someday. Have not told friends or coworkers and at this point don't consider its any of their business. However, I do disclose to any potential sex partners, not just because of them but because of me. There should not be any laws forcing disclosure, we should be educated to tell and hear.

I believe you should not have to disclose your status if you have protected sex. Furthermore, I will never disclose again to any friends. I had a 20 year friendship with an individual I felt was more like family. Such a negative experience, the individual jumped right on the stigma band wagon. Telling her casual sexual partners about my condition. I did speak up. Hence she is no longer in my life. I believe people should be responsible for protecting themselves.

I'm a long term survivor so, with that has come age. So, it's easier to discuss my status with others. Now, with so many new terms to characterized HIV, I feel people are more comfortable also.
