GMHC added five new board members this month as well as several members to its senior staff management team, according to an announcement by the New York City AIDS service organization formerly known as Gay Men’s Health Crisis.

The five board members are former NFL player Wade Davis, attorneys Julie Fink and Timothy Martin, and HIV researchers Edgar P. Simard, PhD, and Perry N. Halkitis, PhD.

In another announcement, GMHC said it will honor co-founder Larry Kramer at its annual spring fundraising gala. Kramer is one of six founders of GMHC. He’s also known as the founder of ACT UP and the author of The Normal Heart, which chronicles his early days with GMHC.

The Spring Gala, titled Renewal, takes place Monday, March 23, at Cipriani 42nd Street, as GMHC gears up for the 30th annual AIDS Walk. The gala will also raise funds by auctioning a one-of-a-kind experience: Two people can join Roberta Kaplan and listen to oral arguments in the United States Supreme Court case in April that will decide whether same-sex marriage is legal across the entire country.
