Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) announced Landon Myer, MD, as the recipient of its International Leadership Award (ILA), according to an EGPAF statement. The three-year grant will fund Myer’s project in the community of Gugulethu, outside Cape Town, South Africa, where HIV prevalence was 28 percent among pregnant women in 2009. He will identify the major barriers to HIV antiretroviral therapy for those who need treatment and develop strategies to overcome these barriers. Recipients of this award develop and manage programs to eliminate pediatric AIDS in resource-poor areas.
