My Last results showed a minor (nothing to worry about) up count in my liver functions.. y do these people whom!! ok r the pro's tell us that we dont need to worry.. they studied it.. we have to live day by day with this virus...

I don't drink very often. Maybe a glass of wine once a month. My concern is opiates and how they play a role in HIV progression (if any)??? Does anyone know, or was there any studies done??? I suffer from cronic pain and take numerous pain meds (methadone, oxycontin or similar) if anyone knows can you please post?

Guys, re-read the article! The study and basic conclusion was that those who drink at least 2 OR MORE alcoholic beverages EVERYDAY, were far more likely to see their CD4 cells decline. The study did NOT deem social consumption of alcohol or an occasional alcoholic beverage dangerous. Nonetheless, if you are positive, ANY alcohol consumption should be discussed with your primary care physician; and your CD4 counts and viral load closely monitored.

DUUHHH! Was there ever really a doubt? People will twist anything around to fit into their own thoughts or belief just to convince themselves that what they are doing or what ever they believe in is okay and correct. The same is true for religion, political views or even in a relationship. It's justifying their actions and/or beliefs.

I dont think that having a drink every now and then will hurt us! Im on ARV therapy and drink eery now and then. No harm in that! Just do it responsibly!

Going on 20 yrs!

I find that not only does it accelerate HIV progression, but along with some meds puts quite a strain on the kidneys and sometimes the liver, therefor sometimes best to give up alcohol all together.(unfortunate for those of us who really enjoy a couple of cocktails now and then)

Veyz meer!! I always thought that a glass or two of (red) wine a day was good for the heart, and now this! I guess it all depends on how big that "glass" is and whether you binge drink or add cocaine to your glass (as a deceased pop star reportedly liked to do).
