I do believe one day we will have a cure, But first we will have a viaccine if not for me but for everyone after me I Believe!!!ð??ð??
Why would this awful magazine publish this? What outcome could there be to the headline, but to kill morale and starve funding? Even the subject of the interview did not volunteer her thoughts on the matter until asked, and qualified them with a suggestion that a functional cure is very possible. That doesn't even get into the fact that there are plenty of equally great minds who disagree. The headline itself is an appeal to authority. Cure naysaying is a self fulfilling prophecy. WTF Poz?
Her definition of a "cure", i.e. every last trace of HIV vanquished from the body, may be a reasonable one, but as she points out, a functional cure is something else entirely and considerably more likely. I believe we'll see something along these lines sooner than later.
Of all the remarkable things she's said and done, why would this deadpan assessment immediately make front page news on a website that has difficulty with speedy updates? Barre is something of a living saint and a mother to every person with HIV. But if you don't get the answer you want from mom, you ask someone else. Saints and parents are not automatically right, even if they skew towards honest, insightful and well intentioned.

There are no words to express my gratitude, for the sterling works of Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, MD, PhD. I have contacted HIV via Instrument Infection - acupuncture. She above all has shaped my attitude, discipline and quest for knowledge. Her work has prepared my mind-set. Your diligence & approaches to HIV/Aids is second to none. My Heart felt thanks & respect goes out to you. Dr. Clinton F Sandall, PhD OM. if at all possible, convey my thanks to her.
