This is old news for me and others like me who have had to deal with the neurological side of HV for decades-despite high CD4 counts and low viral burdens. NP has always been my chief complaint. Memantine provided transient relief but so far the most effective (albeit with many undesirable side effects) at curtailing encephalopathy has been cannabanoids-which lead me to believe that immunosuppresion of the CNS can provide palitive treatment.

While some MS patients who have had the liberation therapy are reporting long-term benefits from having the procedure, there are just as many for whom the â??liberation therapyâ?? has failed as an effective therapeutic intervention. This doesnâ??t mean that these patients didnâ??t have some immediate benefits once the neck veins were opened; most did, but over time the veins restenosed again and their MS symptoms returned.
