I'm pretty sure there is a difference between superinfection (some "superbug" that is not resistant to any meds at all) and SUPRA-infection (which is a second strain of the virus on top of another).
HIV is still a big problem in our community. These findings give us an alertig situation on the struggle against the infection.
Were these women taking antiretrovirals? Is the risk different for someone already taking ARV's?

Todd - The study's authors didn't specify whether or not the women were taking ARVs, but you raise a good point. Studies are currently ongoing using ARVs as a prevention tool and IF they prove effective then theoretically there's reason to think they might also work similarly against superinfection. There is, however, currently no published evidence showing a protective effect of ARVs against superinfection.
