My apologies for my error about Extrapulmonary TB. It was much higher in the delayed treatment group. The part that confused me is that it occurred more frequently at higher CD4 counts. One would think it would occur at lower counts. And, did this occur at higher CD4 counts regardless of being on ARV's or not?

As someone still learning about HIV, I'm left somewhat confused by these findings. People in the immediate treatment group were more likely to have extrapulmonary TB, bacterial infections, and sepsis. Bacterial pneumonia rates were the same. Why would those starting meds earlier actually have more issues than those who waited? IRIS? And, if I read correctly, it seemed the delayed treatment group had higher rates of becoming undectable after one year--93% vs 90% in the immediate group.
