the bottom line is that HIV was always destined to be a TEMPORARY exception to the rule. you don't let deadly infectious illnesses "incubate", you want to neutralize or kill the pathogens involved always sooner rather than later. the exception regarding HIV was based on its uniquely deadly and intractable character prior to the "cocktail"...the first available meds were themselves noticeably more toxic then as opposed to now.
