Get those anal Pap smears! They'll reveal HPV type and abnormal cells (pre-cancerous or cancerous). They're a life-saver, and abnormal cells can be easily removed in many cases, through high-resolution anoscopy (HRA). I've had abnormal cells removed multiple times this way. If your doc isn't familiar with anal Paps, find one who is.
I have been poz for 26 years and in addition to KS, I have a rare form of HIV related lymphoma called Castleman's Disease. It stems from Herpes simplex 8 and KS. It started back in 1996, and unfortunately reoccurs every few years. I have gone through 6 DIFFERENT rounds of chemo. Most doctors don't look for it and dismiss it as an infection. I have become an expert on it over the past 20 years. Check it out for yourself.
While I have avoided that lot of cancers I have had more than my share of skin cancer. Anecdotal information has pointed to this also being accelerated by HIV infection.

Could you clarify if the increa se in cancer rates were people not on anti-retroviral therapy or those taking meds? I have been on meds for a few years and viral Load is undetectable and CD4 count over 1064. Just would like to alleviate any additional stress in mine and others' lives, thanks.
