Sal - Actually, what the study suggests is that starting therapy with lower CD4s is associated with an *increased* risk of these problems. Actually, this has been found in other studies too -- the lower the CD4 count gets before treatment, the higher the risk of various side effects.

so if im reading this right this means that starting meds with a lower t cell count decreses the chances of aqcuiring neuropathy,enemia,and kidney problems. will someone clearify for me. thanks

I stareted on various arv medication in the past 15 yrs, since being dianosised with hiv, viral load undetected to this day, cd4 greatter than 400. regime Sutiva, epizicom s/s peripheral neuropathy, elevated alt, and fluctuation of blood sugar what else I am to expect beside kidney and anemia. please e-mail.
