Actor Charlie Sheen is the subject of a felony criminal investigation over allegations that he physically assaulted his ex-fiancée Scottine Ross and inflicted emotional distress on her by not disclosing that he is HIV positive and thus put her at risk, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The investigation came to light when the Los Angeles Police Department issued a search warrant at the headquarters of National Enquirer–RadarOnline, which allegedly has a recording of Sheen saying he’d rather pay someone $20,000 to kick Ross in the head than settle a lawsuit against her.

Fearing for her safety, Ross allegedly called the police, who are investigating.

Through his attorney, Sheen denies ever having assaulted Ross. On the contrary, he claims she is the one who assaulted him.
