Andrea's account is about as clear and powerful account that many Poz people already know: your own healing is inextricably linked to your efforts to help others. It underlines the reality that when one person is suffering, we are all suffering. She is an inspiration for anyone dealing with life threatening conditions.
This story really hit home. I too was in an abusive relationship with a drug addict. He was a closet drug addict and by the time I realized, it was too late. I was under his spell. I stayed with him for fear of my life and those around me. He knew he had HIV and never told me. I didnt learn until we had ended things. I am thankful that most men I have dated allowed me to educate them. I am now engaged and have a family. Everyone is happy and healthy.

Wow. I'm so glad I read Andrea's story. Even though I'm male much of what she went through echoes my own. I admire her courage and resilience.
