The ads should stay. Me as an HIV+ woman, have been on this med and many more and I clearly have the symptoms. Severe bone loss and kidney problems. I'm living proof

All you have to do is read truvada's patient package inserts and medication guides and you will see that it does have the side effects listed on the facebook ads. I think they should continue to put ads out to warn of the dangers of this drug, as well, many other HIV medications. The pharmaceutical companies are not normally hiding the major side effect of drugs, its just a matter of reading the information they put out with them.

@Sozodken, these ARV drugs always had it in their small print about the side effects they might have. It's not like tobacco sellers pre 1960s which claimed glamour and no harm. These ARV makers never claimed their products to be totally safe to use.

@DanValdes, this is what we all get for supporting capitalism. Capitalism funded much of the research and wants it's profits. If the research had been done by the State then the State could forgo the profiteering. If the research had been done by non profit organizations then that would have been a better route, too. Did you ever support capitalism? Or did you vote for socialism?

The ads are important and should not be banned. I personally developed irreparable kidney disease as a result of taking Truvada. To remove the ads would remove very important info on our rights for compensation. Perhaps the ads could be reworded to differentiate the old and new formulations of Truvada, but ad space is usually not large enough for that. Bottom line, people need to consult a doctor and educate themselves before making any conclusions or decisions about taking medications.

Gilead refuses to break the patent on Truvada making the drug cost ~$1700 monthly in the US. This same drug is available for $10 month in many places around the world. This is not how ending HIV transmission in 10 years is going to be attainable. US Citizens deserve a robust supply of widely available generic versions of Truvada. POZ needs to report on that and advocate for us - not for Gilead #BreakThePatent
