Barney Hickey

This ban was put in place due to fear, ignorance,stigma and discrimination. It never made sense based on science, no evidence base,rationality or anything other than homophobia plain and simple. I've been HIV+ since 1985, always hid my meds when I entered the USA and feared getting caught. I commend President Obama on showing leadership on this issue which has left the USA far behind the modern world on this crucial public health shame. Barney Hickey,RN,BSN,MSN Vancouver,BC

So glad the ban has been lifted! We should never have to hide but unfortunately it is such a harsh reality. Believe it or not other countries around the world still ban positive people and or at least require testing if you intend to stay for a certain amount of time. Loved the poem!!
