Everett, being a Soldier, was constantly told every Friday about having safe-sex at the troop safety briefing put out to all of us. As a soldier, we are constantly educated about anything and everything under the sun. A soldier is and should be held to a higher standard than most. The only problem is that there is not a huge emphysis on HIV/AIDS. This goes for society ingeneral itself. All we seem to teach about these days are teenage pregnancy and herpies. Knowledge is power and the solution.

I am pleased to see some people have to learn the hard way...we all should stop and think of all perspectives bedore judgement or reaction.

Give me a break. This is the only country where a 16 y.o. is considered a child. I feel bad for the guy but seriously this is no longer the dark ages. Fact. HIV exists, Condoms exists, and people are dishonest. Both of these guys are idiots. I refuse to feel bad for some dork that doesn't protect himself. Definitely nail the guy for statutory rape because that is the law, but there is responsibility on both parts. I'm not saying the kid deserved it but 99years in excessive and vilifies HIV.

Just a quick comment, didn't the young man no off safer sex? I realize that both should have mentioned the pozitivety of the man but, what happens to the child. He should have known about protection. I don't feel that the man should have been locked up for this. Of course, we don't have the whole story here.

Tragic that children have to sneak around behind their parents' backs because of lack of support about their sexual orientation. Tragic that schools are still not driving home the importance of using condoms to protect from STDs including HIV. Tragic that our society has their collective head stuck up their ass about sexuality in general and can't bring themselves to face facts. Teens have sex. Teens can be gay. Condoms save lives. Teens need education on gay sex and condom use.

This is so sad that this even happened in the first place. Parents really do need to pay more attention to what their children are doing online and on cell phones. I hope he does get life for doing this to a child.
